St. Timothy’s has a long tradition of nurturing the religious growth of the youth of the parish. Our Godly Play program provides the children an open and sacred space in which to explore religious principles. Our lay leadership tells the foundational stories of the Bible while incorporating meaningful objects and visuals that enhance the children’s worship. The Godly Play program starts at 9:30 am and finishes before the 10:30 am service. The children then have the option of continuing with Bible instruction during the 10:30 am service, a time referred to as Children’s Chapel. The children are often given the opportunity to respond to the liturgy in a more imaginative way during this “art and creative response” time. Nursery Care is available for babies and toddlers every Sunday from 9:30 am to 11:45 am. The Middle School and High Schoolers meet Sunday evenings with their respective EYC Groups while school is in session. Parishioners currently assist the EYC in the organization of this program, which involves a meal followed by a structured discussion. Our Director of Children’s Ministries position is just recently vacant and will be filled again with the insights and blessings of the new rector.
Adult Forum and Parents Class are held at 9:30 am on Sundays throughout the year. The varying programs aim to improve our understanding of how Christian beliefs and values support and guide us in our daily lives. This year we are exploring the rule of St. Benedict. In the past, discussions have been led by the rector, by lay Leaders, or by guests from the community. Committed groups of parishioners meet weekly for Bible Study. The Men’s Group meets Wednesday at 8:00 am and the Women’s Group at 1:00 pm. Previously with the rector’s guidance, members explore a variety of different books from the Bible. Additionally, the rector crafted a Lenten Learning offering for the parish each year, with reflections by members of the congregation.
